It is with a deeply heavy heart that we lament the news of Michael Mahal’s passing. Michael Mahal, and his brother Sonny are of course the masterminds behind Mahal Empire. Those in the industry know Mahal Empire as an absolute dynamo of crowd sourcing and a veritable juggernaut of film production. News of his passing hits particularly hard for this site because, Michael and his brother Sonny have always had an open door to Malevolent Dark. They have regularly shared their considerable catalog of work with us and have always treated us as partners and peers.
Beyond that, Michael Mahal contributed to the resurrection of many careers. Late career greats like, Michael Madsen, Richard Grieco, Eric Roberts and the late Tom Sizemore all did tours with the Mahal Empire. Costas Mandylor has played several roles in Mahal Empire films while moonlighting with the Saw series. This is all made possible by visionary film producers breaking new ground in the industry.
Malevolent Dark would like to send its deepest condolences to the family of Michael. Our grief is profound and he will be missed.
