It’s been just over a year since we first heard about Shepka Productions / Flickering Myth film The Baby in the Basket. Billed as a modern gothic, The Baby in the Basket takes place in war ravaged Europe in the dark confines of St. Augustine’s monastery in Scotland. While preparing for an incoming storm front, a baby is left on the front steps of the monastery. Unsurprisingly, this bundle of joy is delivered in a wicker basket.
After bringing the child in, all is not what it seems. Soon Sister Agnes begins to suspect that the baby has a much more sinister story. The baby in the basket may be the son of the Devil.

Directed by Nathan Shepka and Andy Crane and written by Tom Joliff (Cinderella’s Revenge), The Baby in the Basket brings a strong team together. The film stars Amber Doig-Thorne (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey), Michaela Longden (How to Kill Monsters), Elle O’Hara (When Darkness Falls), Lisa Riesner (Charlie’s Angels) and Nathan Shepka (Lock & Load) alongside veteran British talent Annabelle Lanyon (Legend), Maryam d’Abo (The Living Daylights) and Paul Barber (The Full Monty).
Strive Global Media has secured right to distribute the film to the worldwide market. They intend to debut the film at the Cannes Film Market.
The team was nice enough to give Malevolent Dark an early look at the film in the attached stills. Based on the progress since the black and white teaser that the team first sent out, we are loving where this is going.

We do not often find stylish horror films like THE BABY IN THE BASKET in the marketplace which is very flooded with repetitive horror titles. This film is really something special and stands out as a film to see. We are so pleased to be representing it.
