This is an unpaid volunteer position.
At the time of this posting Malevolent Dark is a non-monetized passion project built on the volunteer efforts of passionate contributors.
We are looking for a writer that is interested in writing long form reviews, discussions and think pieces on extreme horror films, media and topics. By extreme horror, we are talking about films like Salò, or 120 Days of Sodom (1975), Serbian Film (2010), August Underground (2001), Begotten (1990). Certainly there is some creative flexibility here, but the assignment is horror that falls outside of the normal realm of horror pop culture.
Requirements:
- Willing to write up to 10 articles per year on extreme horror topics
- Able to deliver based on pre-negotiated deadlines
- Knowledgeable on the topic
- Knowledgeable about filmmaking techniques
- Able to reference intersections with other horror media, topics, genres and philosophies
- Willing and able to follow site content and publishing guidelines
- Organized, thoughtful and well spoken through written word
- Willing to sign a content release to Malevolent Dark
IMPORTANT: This position is one celebrating the art of horror as a medium for telling stories, not one celebrating death. The contributor will have to negotiate the fine line between the artistic merit and the violence and suffering in the extreme horror genre.
All Malevolent Dark contributors may contribute other articles of interest as approved by the editorial staff.
